The Breeding Committee of the Irish Draught Horse Society produced the Irish Draught Broodmare Herd report. The committee is of the opinion that the breed is in a similar position to that of the mid to late 1980s. The committee is concerned at the decline in the number of Irish Draught mares at stud, the proportion being bred pure and the extremely low registration rate. This report reviews the breeding trends of the past fifteen to twenty years and makes recommendations to National Council to ensure the breed continues to influence Irish equestrian sports.

Members of the Breeding Committee:
Mr Pat Carthy, Mr Martin Collins, Mr Eddie Corbett, Mr William Cotter, Ms Chantel Deon, Mr Jerry O’Donoghue, Mr Vincent Faughnan, Mr J. P. Finnegan, Mr Noel Hamilton and Mr Norman Storey, Chairman.

Acknowledgement:
The committee acknowledges the help received from the Irish Horse Board who provided many of the statistics used in the report.
