Breed Background on Top Priced Horses

Lot 51 Grey filly foal by Coille Mhor Hill out of Third Lady by Diamond Lad mad Euro 3,300.

Lot 44 Grey colt foal by Corran Ginger by Ginger Dick out of Levaghy Blue by Blue Rajah made Euro 2,200.

Lot 112 A 2 year old filly by Holycross out of Ivy Diamond sold for Euro 4,000.

Lot 126 A 5 year old bay mare by Clover Hill out of Westfield Lass, this “a premier mare”, is a Grade D showjumper sold for Euro 8,000.

General Comments

  • Breeders in many instances did not give enough information on the breeding and performance of stock entered in the catalogue.
  • At the sale stock were reasonably well presented, however in many instances the hoof condition of mares left a lot to be desired. The mare may not have been for sale but a well turned out mare, particularly hoof care can go a long way in selling the foal.
  • Auctioneers tried hard to get a sale and were finished some time after 6. p.m.
  • Great credit is due to the Clarke family at Cavan Equestrian Centre for the manner in which they presented the catalogue and in the way they ran the sale.
